AOS Rocks out Newtopia!!!
We had a funky good time at Newtopia Cyder on 10/27 for our second show of the season!!! This is a brand new venue for us and we're excited to play here again!!!
AOS plays first show of the year at Adams Ave Street Fair!!!
AOS started this season off on 9/22 with a bang, rocking the DeMille's stage at the Adams Avenue Street Fair, the largest music and arts street fair in Southern California. Thanks to everyone who came out to support!!!

Farewell show to our graduating Seniors!
AOS had a great final show to wrap up the 2018-19 season with the release of their 3rd CD, "Doin' Our Thing"!!! We also bid a fond farewell to our graduating seniors Caleb Hupp, Ben Keane, Daniel Bae, Julianne Mackey, Sam Kredich and Serena Geroe. Thanks for your dedication and hard work in AOS. We'll miss you!!!

AOS ROCKS Panama 66 with Singer Showcase!!
Our Singer Showcase was a huge success on Sunday 3/17/19 at Panama 66 in beautiful Balboa Park!!! Thanks to our amazing vocalists Isla Beltran, Mia Jativa, Latanya Lockett, Tim Pacheco as well as AOS members Jackson Baldis and Serena Geroe for making this a special night to remember!!! Serena Geroe, AOS guitar player, has been selected as guitarist for the 2019 Next Generation Jazz Orchestra. Each year, Monterey Jazz festival brings together 21 of the most accomplished high school jazz musicians from across the country to form an all-star touring orchestra. This year NGJO will tour the Pacific Northwest and Canada and in September perform at the 62nd annual Monterey Jazz Festival. Serena is also a 2019 National YoungArts Foundation winner in Jazz Guitar. Selected to the YoungArts LA Jazz Combo, Serena's original composition 'Yes I Can | Watch Me' was performed by the group. Serena also composed music to accompany the amazing Spoken Word work of YoungArts winner Anna Herrera - check it out! Rock on Serena!!!

Congratulations to AOS trumpeter Brad McWeeny for being selected to the 2019 All Southern California and California All State Honor Bands!!! Brad was also a member of the 2017 & 2018 All Southern Honor Bands. Way to go!!!
SCPA going to New York City!!!
AOS Tenor Saxophonist Nick Caldwell (pictured far left) and his school Jazz Ensemble (led by John Reynolds) at San Diego's School of Creative and Performing Arts have been chosen as one of 15 national finalists to perform at the Essentially Ellington competition in New York City May 9-11!!! We wish Nick and all of these talented young musicians the best of luck!!!
Karl Denson in the studio!!!
As AOS is getting very close to finishing our 3rd CD, we had the pleasure of having legendary Tenor Saxophonist Karl Denson in the studio to lay down a burnin' solo on his song "Elephants" which we are stoked about having on this latest release!!! Karl has performed with Lenny Kravitz, Steve Winwood as well as touring with his own 2 groups, the Greyboy Allstars and Karl Denson's Tiny Universe. KDTU just released a new album, Gnomes & Badgers, available on all media platforms (This album also guest stars AOS director/trombonist Andy Geib). Oh, and Karl also happens to play with rock gods The Rolling Stones!!! Look for them and Karl on their upcoming U.S. Tour this Spring!!!
AOS back in the studio for album #3!!!
One week after the Panama 66 gig, AOS was back in the studio to record their 3rd album. The first 4 songs are already tracked and ready for mix down!!!

AOS had a very special first show of the year at Panama 66. They played an awesome set and then everyone got to enjoy the AOS alumni reunion band!!! Made up of members from the past 7 years!!! It was a very special night for everyone!!!
Former AOS Tenor Saxophonist Nathan Collins touring with John Fogerty!!!
Nathan has been playing with the John Fogerty band for about a year and is currently preparing for an April Las Vegas residency, European tour and the 50th Anniversary Woodstock festival this summer!!! Way to go Nathan!!!

Former AOS Trombonist Skyler MacKinnon member of 2018 DCI World Champion Santa Clara Vanguard!!!
For the 2nd year in a row AOS has a former member as a DCI World Champion!!! Skyler, a graduate of San Diego State, was the Vanguard's Lead Euphonium and soloist!!! You can see Skyler in this video. He's the soloist on the left. CONGRATS!!!
Former AOS Trumpeter Joey Alegre member of 2017 DCI World Champion Blue Devils!!!
Congrats to Joey for being a part of this very special squad!!! Joey, a graduate of USC, was the Blue Devils' lead trumpet and soloist!!! Here's a really cool head cam video of Joey in action!!!
